The summer holidays are here! But keeping the kids entertained is sometimes easier said than done.
Finding activities that you and your family can enjoy together without breaking the bank isn’t always easy. That’s why we've tried to help by pulling together some ideas of free and affordable things you can do this summer.
Take a family bike ride
Enjoy a family bike ride around a local park. You can even find cycling routes online that suit all ages and abilities. Get the family together and head out to explore.
Pick your own fruit at a local farm
It’s fruit season and a great time to take the family to pick your own fruit. Not only this this a fun and cheap day out, it helps support your local farmers, too. And with it ending in a tasty snack – this one is a win, win.
Visit local parks and beaches
Visiting local parks and beaches is great fun for all the family. Pack your own picnic and spend the day exploring the slides, swings and other play equipment.
If the sunshine makes an appearance, why not head to your local beach and enjoy the views. You could even pick up a crabbing kit from most supermarkets at low cost and see if you can catch any crabs. (always remember to return them once you’ve said hello).
Take part in local activities
Look at your local areas for summer holiday activity days that may be taking place. This often includes things such as rock climbing walls, painting and even pizza making at a small cost.
To find information on activities near you, check your local library, nearest tourist information office or search for events in your area online.
