Heart of Sidley recently welcomed BBC South East Politics for a special filming session, shining a light on the amazing work that’s taken place across the Sidley community over the past decade.
As the Local Trusted Organisation for Heart of Sidley, Southern Housing plays a key role in supporting the partnership. Alongside managing homes in the area, we employ the Heart of Sidley team, helping to resource and empower the people who drive this work forward every day.
During the visit, the BBC focused on the real difference the partnership is making for local residents. This included updates on the new Sidley Hub, which will provide a vital community space, as well as the popular food voucher scheme that is easing pressure on household budgets while boosting local businesses. Residents also shared powerful first-hand stories about how Heart of Sidley has supported them, reflecting on the positive changes they’ve seen in the community.
This filming marks an important moment as Heart of Sidley approaches the final chapter of its ten‑year Big Local journey in March 2026. The Local Trust’s learning from the Big Local programme highlights just how transformative long‑term, resident‑led investment can be—and Heart of Sidley stands as a great example of what sustained collaboration can achieve.
We’re proud to be part of this journey and to continue supporting a community that’s driving change from the ground up.
