Residents across the G15 have demonstrated the power of a strong, united voice, and this research will help us build on that momentum.
We're proud to be coordinating new research to explore how more residents can shape national and local housing policy.
The project will examine the G15 Residents' Group (G15RG), which brings together residents from London's largest housing associations to influence housing policy and campaign for quality social housing.
We'll be appointing a research partner to examine how the group currently works, what could be improved, and how the model could be used by others seeking to build resident voice at a wider, cross‑organisational level.
Funding has already been secured from the Government's Social Housing Innovation Fund and we'll appoint a research partner this Spring.
The work is expected to run until March 2027 with findings published in a publicly available report. A toolkit will also be designed to help other multi-landlord groups establish effective resident forums.
The resources will be practical, easy to use, and suitable for both residents and the housing organisations supporting them.
I’m delighted to see this project moving forward. Residents across the G15 have demonstrated the power of a strong, united voice, and this research will help us build on that momentum. By understanding what works well and bringing a balanced perspective that leads to fairer, more equal improvements, we can develop a model of resident involvement that is guided by strategic insight and residents’ expertise, achieving the best outcomes for everyone across the sector.
We'll share updates as the work progresses, including interim learning later in 2026 and full publication towards the end of the year.
The findings will be promoted across the sector to encourage practical adoption and wider discussion about what good strategic resident involvement looks like in practice.
The project is funded via the Government’s new Social Housing Innovation Fund, aimed at supporting projects that explore how to give tenants greater power to shape services and decisions.
