It's Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week and our teams have been out and about in all our regions to tell residents about our new approach to tackling ASB, and how they can report to us.
The new approach
We know anti-social behaviour has become more complex, and we need specialist staff to tackle the issue effectively. That's why we've expanded our teams, with each case now being handled by a specialist ASB Officer.
More training
All our teams who handle ASB calls have had training in our new procedures. The Housing Ombudsman also recommended all housing providers have a Good Neighbourhood Management (GNM) procedure in place. This deals with issues that don’t meet the threshold to be considered ASB. Our GNM procedure involves working with you and your neighbour to resolve problems before they escalate into ASB.
More support
If you report ASB to us, we’ll ask you a set of questions to assess the impact on you. This is called a Risk Assessment Matrix (RAM). The response to each question receives a score. Our officers also use their professional judgement to reach the final RAM score. Where there’s a high RAM score, our officers will review a list of options and offer you support appropriate to your situation.
Measuring performance
We’ve new performance measures which highlight the proportion of new ASB cases with a completed Risk Assessment Matrix. We’ve already seen a big improvement in our performance.
We've made great progress so far and we’ll continue to improve our response so you feel safer in your home and community.
