The High Sheriff is the King's senior ceremonial representative in the county. The role includes supporting local communities and recognising the valuable work of organisations and individuals across the Island.

During his visit, Nigel met residents and staff, learned more about the support provided at 22 Argyll Street and saw first-hand the positive and welcoming environment they’ve created. He enjoyed chatting over a cup of tea with residents, while resident, Caroline took the opportunity to teach him some Makaton.

The visit provided a relaxed opportunity to showcase the service, celebrate residents' achievements and give the High Sheriff a glimpse into everyday life at 22 Argyll Street.

"It was a real pleasure to welcome the High Sheriff to 22 Argyll Street. It was fantastic to showcase our service, introduce him to our residents and share some of the great work our team do every day to support people to live happy, independent and fulfilling lives.

"Our residents really enjoyed the visit and were proud to share their home and the community they’ve created here."

- Ashley Barrier-White, Registered Manager

In a Facebook post, the High Sheriff said: "Sometimes I am reminded of the warmth, kindness and love that are needed to enable us to live our lives well. What an honour."
