The event, held on Friday 5 December, brought together around 100 residents from care and support services across the island for a day of celebration and community spirit.
The day featured a packed programme of activities, including Christmas karaoke, festive arts and crafts, bingo, seasonal games and quizzes and live music from Men in Sheds. Highlights included the Christmas jumper competition and a new addition for this year, a table centrepiece crafting contest, showcasing residents’ creativity.
A key moment of the day was the annual award ceremony, a highly anticipated tradition that recognises residents’ personal achievements and contributions to their communities.
Among this year’s inspiring winners was David, who took home the Journey of Strength Award. David’s story is one of resilience and determination, overcoming significant challenges, he has transformed his life.
Another winner was Chris, from Ryde, who was presented the Community Creativity Award. Chris has brought joy to his community through his innovative recycling projects, turning wooden pallets into garden planters. His creativity not only brightens outdoor spaces but also raises funds for the Samaritans.
Emma Bound, Head of Care and Support Services at Southern Housing, said: “Our Christmas event is all about bringing people together to celebrate community and enjoy some festive fun.
“It’s always a highlight of the year, and seeing the joy it brings to residents is truly special. We’re incredibly grateful to Chas Berger for their generous sponsorship, which helped make this year’s event even more memorable for our residents.”
