Residents and staff at Fairlee, a scheme on the Isle of Wight that supports young people facing homelessness, came together to give their garden a spruce up for summer
Residents spent the day helping to build a brand-new garden furniture set and BBQ for the shared outdoor space.
Despite the usual challenges that come with assembling furniture, they stuck with it and with the support (or hindrance!) of staff, they eventually got it all done. With everything put together, they could put their feet up and test out the new set up, well-deserved after their hard work!
The new seating area and BBQ will hopefully be a big part of future summer activities for Fairlee residents, giving them a space to relax, enjoy being outdoors and socialise together.
Speaking of the activity, Peer Support Worker, Harriet said: “This is what resident involvement is all about, creating shared spaces with input from the people who use them, and building a sense of ownership and pride in their environment. We’re excited to see how the residents make the most of it over the summer!”
