This prestigious award recognises outstanding developments in a highly competitive market, and highlights our commitment to creating high-quality, affordable homes that support first-time buyers and enhance local communities.

Holmhurst Gardens stood out by combining affordability, sustainability, thoughtful design, and a strong sense of heritage. Located in Baldslow, Hastings, the development is just 10 minutes from the beach and surrounded by 1,461 sq km of protected countryside. Once part of Holmhurst St Mary, the site retains its historical charm, including the restoration of a Queen Anne statue.

The development offers 208 affordable homes, with 108 available through Shared Ownership, making it a standout example of accessible housing in the South. A vibrant new community is already forming, with more homes due to complete soon.

“We’re extremely proud to have our homes at Holmhurst Gardens recognised at the First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards. It’s a special development for us because it combines the creation of much-needed affordable homes with the sensitive regeneration of a site that holds real historical significance for Hastings.

We’ve prioritised local people throughout sales, and it has been fantastic to see so many first-time buyers from Hastings and the surrounding area able to put down roots here.”

- Jane Williams, Head of Sales

The First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards are a leading industry benchmark, celebrating the efforts of developers, housing associations and industry partners who go above and beyond to help aspiring buyers onto the property ladder.
