Caring Callers – Intouch programme to support vulnerable residents comes to an end
Intouch, part of Fresh Visions, aims to support those aged 55 and over by providing a range of health and wellbeing initiatives to combat isolation and loneliness.
The Caring Callers programme, led by Intouch, has now come to an end but will return later this year in December.
Our Caring Callers are a team of volunteers and contractors who phone Southern Housing residents at risk of isolation and loneliness and check they’re safe and well in their homes.
Seven of our contractors supported this initiative as part of their social value give back, with a team of 27 making phones calls. Three admin volunteers, aged 55 plus and looking to upskill to secure employment, also took part in this programme working from Grosvenor House once a week.
During the telephone calls, our Caring Callers support residents by finding out if they:
- Need any repairs
- Would like advice on money matters
- Know how to use their heating
- Need home safety or energy advice
- Would they like to know more about our health and wellbeing programme.
We also asked residents to complete a voluntary short consultation form to help us determine how Intouch can best support our residents.
Over 1,160 calls were made to our most vulnerable residents. The feedback was very positive and the residents seemed to appreciate being contacted.
