Our residents bring their lived experience and local knowledge to ensure our policies reflect the real needs of residents and their neighbourhoods.
Our Policy Panel:
- Advise on proposed policies, offering insights into how they may affect different residents
- Highlight potential challenges or unintended consequences, helping to avoid issues before they arise
- Suggest improvements to make policies more inclusive, practical, and resident friendly.
The panel's input makes a real difference: policies developed with resident support are more likely to reflect the diverse needs of our residents. In turn, they're more likely to be effective, fair, and widely accepted.
Policy panel meetings are held virtually, usually of an evening.
You’ll receive the papers in advance of the meeting, which includes:
- A paper, explaining the background of the policy and highlights key details
- A copy of the draft policy
- An Equality Impact Assessment.
You’ll have a minimum of one week to review and scrutinise these documents before the panel meeting.
During the meeting you’ll meet the policy owner, who will highlight any key points and take questions and suggestions from you.
Policies with resident support are more likely to be effective. With your input, our policies can reflect the diverse needs of our residents and their living environments.
You’ll be able to provide advice and highlight potential implications for residents of proposed policies, suggest changes and help create policies which are resident friendly.
