Welcome to your brand new Resident Engagement Bulletin
Each year, thousands of residents help shape and improve our services. We’re committed to making it even easier for you to get involved and influence the things that matter most to you. With four resident Board Members sitting at the highest level of Southern Housing, resident voices are built into everything we do.
In our brand new bulletin, find out ways you can get involved, see the latest work residents have been a part of, and how you influence our decisions.
Want to continue receiving this bulletin every three months by email? Keep your preferences up to date in Online Account so we can keep you informed about resident involvement and feedback opportunities.
We want to make it easier for you to influence our services
We know that getting involved needs to work around your life. That’s why we’re focusing on:
• Making it easier to share your views, in ways that suit you
• Offering more opportunities to get involved
• Being clear about how your feedback is used and what changes as a result
• Supporting residents with training and information so you feel confident to take part.
Whether it’s a quick survey, joining a panel, or getting involved in your local area – every voice matters. Our Resident Involvement Hub is a great place for you to find other opportunities to get involved and share your views.
Recent projects
Social Tenants Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs)
We worked with residents early to make sure our STAIRs offer met your needs. Residents told us STAIRs needed to be clearer and easier to use, so from rollout in October 2026, you told us to:
- Ensure STAIRs reviews are separate from Southern Housing’s complaints process
- Improve communication for residents who are not online
- Create clearer website information and contact routes.
Pest Policy
Resident feedback has improved our Pest Policy, making it clearer, with better guidance, clearer contacts, and stronger signposting so residents know what to expect and where to go for support.

You said, we did
As part of our Repairs Transformation, we asked residents for feedback on the communications you receive when reporting a repair. This is shaping changes being rolled out to make messages clearer, more accessible and easier to understand.
Find out more about the projectWe asked you what terminology works best to describe where they live. Most told us “Neighbourhoods” felt clear, inclusive and easy to understand, so we’re using this to shape our Local Link approach.

Celebrating our involved residents
We’re proud to announce Daisy Armstrong (pictured) won Board member of the year at the Housing Heroes Awards this June, with Sue Latimer also being shortlisted.
The awards shine a spotlight on individuals who go above and beyond to make a real difference in the housing sector, recognising those who demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting communities.
A huge congratulations!
Have you seen our new Strategic Plan?
Our vision is to create communities where everyone has a safe home in a place they’re proud to live. This strategy has been designed to deliver just that. More than 5,000 residents shared their views, whilst further suggestions were contributed by residents and colleagues through workshops, drop-in sessions, and surveys.
These important insights have been instrumental in shaping this Strategic Plan.
What's next for Resident Engagement?
478 residents told us how to improve the online account; and we’re using your ideas to design a simpler, more user friendly service. We look forward to sharing the full outcomes of this work in our next bulletin.
We’re testing a new approach to Regional Panels, creating shorter, discussion-led meetings so resident feedback more directly shapes decisions and service improvements.
