We work with partners throughout our regions to support food banks, food pantries and community fridges. These initiatives not only support those struggling with food bills, but also save surplus food from ending up in landfill. See a list of all our food initiatives below.

It saves me an absolute fortune on my weekly food bills. It means that I can afford fruit and vegetables - especially as fruit is so expensive today. It really helps out and means I'm eating a lot more fruit and veg. With the cost of living going up, it's an absolute lifesaver for me, I can manage to get to the end of the month without worrying about when payday is coming.

More about our food initiatives

Food banks give out pre-made food parcels to people, for free. This food is mostly tinned/long-life. Our Financial Inclusion team can provide referral vouchers to residents’ local food bank.

Pantry members must be residents who live within 15 minutes’ walk of a pantry. Pantry members pay a small fee to access food worth 3-4x as much (e.g. paying £4 to access £15 worth of food). Pantry members choose the food from boxes or shelves, and it includes fresh fruit and veg.

Community Fridges are for anyone who lives on the estate where they are based. There is no referral or eligibility criteria. They give out free food, including fresh fruit and veg. The focus with community fridges is to be welcoming for anyone, and to create spaces for community members to interact.
