Southern Housing is driving forward with its ambitious Stonehouse View regeneration project.

The tower blocks currently on the site, known as the Four Courts, no longer meet modern expectations for accessibility, energy efficiency and the quality of homes people deserve.

The bold vision for Stonehouse View is to create warm and affordable homes, with safe places for children to play, attractive green spaces bringing neighbours together, and homes and streets people feel proud of.

This is one of Southern Housing’s flagship regeneration projects and demonstrates its ongoing commitment to Hastings.

The regeneration will protect everything people value about their community, while creating a unique opportunity to deliver a high quality scheme made up entirely of social rented homes. This will better meet the needs of current residents while providing secure and affordable homes for future generations.

* The Four Courts has a long and important history within the local area. You can find out more about the site’s past on our History and legacy page.

Paul Hackett CBE, CEO at Southern Housing

“We’ve listened to residents and local stakeholders, and we believe this is a once in a generation opportunity to create modern homes the people of St Leonards can be proud of.

By working together with the community we’ll deliver one of the largest redevelopment projects Hastings has seen in many years, which will benefit generations to come.”

Helena Dollimore Img

Helena Dollimore MP, Member of Parliament for Hastings and Rye:

“We desperately need more affordable social housing in Hastings, and the Four Courts regeneration is an important step towards delivering the homes that residents deserve.

It represents a significant investment in the area, and its impact has the potential to reach far beyond new housing. It will help create local jobs, strengthen skills, and open up new training opportunities for residents.”

Glenn Haffenden Copy Scaled

Cllr Glenn Haffenden, leader of Hastings Borough Council and lead councillor for housing

“Improving housing in Hastings, including social housing, is a priority for the council as part of its new Housing Strategy. The proposals being worked up with Southern Housing at the Four Courts site involve replacing the existing blocks with a greater number of social rented homes that are modern and offer a higher standard of home. This will involve Southern Housing and Homes England investing over £100 million in Hollington – making this project the biggest investment in Hastings for a generation.”
