Southern Housing is proud to be a member and supporter of Stop Social Housing Stigma (SSHS), an independent, resident-led campaign that works at arm’s length from housing providers to challenge stereotypes and drive positive change across the sector. SSHS exists to ensure residents’ voices are heard and to promote a more respectful and accurate understanding of social housing and the people who live in it.
The campaign’s latest project, “Do you live in a stock?”, is exploring the language used in social housing and whether everyday terms such as “housing stock” and “voids” reflect the reality of people living in homes and communities. SSHS is inviting residents to share their views through a short survey, helping to shape future recommendations for the sector.
