Paul is a resident of one of our independent living schemes in Kent. Born in 1948 in Southend, he studied at the Southend School of Art and Design before continuing his education in graphic design at St Martins School of Art. He went on to work in advertising as a graphic designer.
Art has always been a central part of Paul’s life, particularly lino cuts and watercolours. Over the years, he developed a loyal following in his hometown, where he frequently exhibited his work.
Paul has a lifelong fascination with the sea, deeply rooted in his family’s East Coast maritime heritage - featuring traditional boats, barges, and smacks. In 1994, he took early retirement to pursue his passion more fully. After building his own boat, he set sail around the world in 2000. Throughout this incredible journey, he painted prolifically, taking commissions, creating marina murals, and even teaching fellow yachties.
In 2016, Paul returned to England and spent a year restoring a Thames Barge while continuing to exhibit locally in Kent.
